Police Chase Ends in Vehicular Manslaughter
On October 6, at approximately 2:13 hours, a Puyallup Police Department officer contacted a vehicle in the parking lot of the South Ridge Apartments. The officer suspected the vehicle occupants of prowling vehicles at a business a short distance away.
The officer proceeded to ask the suspects for identification when the driver put the car in gear and fled the parking lot. While fleeing, the suspect vehicle nearly struck the officer. A second officer located the vehicle heading eastbound on 512 from the 31st Avenue Southeast onramp. Upon exiting at South Meridian the driver lost control and crashed into a tree and wall.
Driving is a high-risk activity, even on normal days. Extraordinary circumstances – such as emergencies like police chases – can increase the dangers of driving several times over. It is possible that an accident during such a time will lead to greater loss of property, injury or even loss of life than an accident in normal circumstances. When you need it most, our law firm can provide you the protection you need and the means to get the compensation you deserve.
