Disney Employee Suffers A Serious Injury On Space Mountain
The state is investigating a critical injury suffered by a Disney employee at Space Mountain on October 3, 2012. The victim, who KNBC identified as 68 year old Christopher Monday, is a machinist who was testing one of the vehicles in the ride. The victim was somehow struck by the vehicle, how this happened is still being investigated. What we do know is that the victim suffered serious back, chest and head injuries.
A representative of Disneyland Resort said that the ride did not malfunction, stating that “it was cleared for normal operation.” One necessary focus of the investigation will be why coaster was listed as operational while Mr. Monday was still working. It is possible that an oversight by another employee or supervisor was the reason Mr. Monday sustained the injuries he did. Depending on what the investigation determines to be the case, it is possible that Disneyland Resort may be held responsible.
