Dozens Hurt When Floor Collapses During A Florida Party
More than 50 people were hurt after the floor collapsed during a party in a Florida apartment building. The injuries ranged from broken bones to soft tissue. It is unclear why the floor collapsed as of yet but investigations are underway. City inspectors and other officials plan to comb through the rubble Monday to try to learn what happened. Damage is estimated at $250,000.
A neighbor states she heard screaming and saw bloodied and injured people piled on top of each other as police rushed to rope off the scene.
“It was like riding a roller coaster with no seat belts,” said Davis, a 19-year-old junior, adding that she tried to hang onto a couch as the floor fell through. “Imagine you’re just with your friends partying and next you’re wondering if you’re going to make it out of there,” she said.
The complex was built in 1995 and is comprised of nearly 40 buildings on 44 acres.
