Bufferin, Excedrin, Gas-X, and NoDoz products have been recalled
Bufferin, Excedrin, Gas-X, and NoDoz products have been recalled because they may be mixed with each other, contain broken tablets, or contain prescription painkillers. Drugmaker Novartis is recalling 1,645 lots of the four products.
According to WebMD, “Mixing of different products in the same bottle could result in consumers taking the incorrect product and receiving a higher or lower strength than intended or receiving an unintended ingredient,” Novartis warns. “This could potentially result in overdose, interaction with other medications a consumer may be taking, or an allergic reaction if the consumer is allergic to the unintended ingredient.” – Read More at WebMD
Consumers who have the recalled products should stop using them and contact Novartis (888-477-2403 or novartisOTC.com) for information on returning them for a refund.
Product liability laws are designed to allow those who have been injured, as a result of a product’s malfunction or defect, to seek damages. Liable parties generally include the product manufacturer, the wholesaler and the retail store that sold the product to the consumer. The sellers should be held responsible for the safety of their products. When these products fail to meet safety expectations, because of a defect or failure, then the injured consumer has the legal right to seek damages.
When an injury occurs, the victim must prove that the product that caused the injury was defective. Oftentimes, proving liability can be difficult.
