Peanut and Almond Butter Food Recall Due to Salmonella
This week there have been multiple recalls of a beloved snack product, peanut and almond butter. According to NBC news, the Sunland Inc. manufacturing company has done a voluntary recall on their products because of recent outbreaks of Salmonella disease that have been allegedly linked to their food. The Sunland Inc. sells their product under many names at local stores such as Archer Farms, Trader Joes, Sprouts Farmers Market, Open Nature, among others. None of the other products created by their company risk any contamination, though they did chose to do the recall because of the 29 reported cases about people getting sick from the products in 18 different states. The side effects are not extremely severe though they can cause extreme discomfort. Diarrhea, abdominal cramping between 12 to 72 hours after the infection are the most common. However, this sickness can pose a more severe threat to younger children as well as elderly folks who have don’t have as strong of an immune system to fight off the sickness.
