Pedestrian Seriously Injured By A Car In Pacific Beach
San Diego police say a pedestrian was struck by a Jaguar as she was crossing a street in Pacific Beach early Saturday. The 31-year-old woman was walking across Ingraham Street at Grand Avenue when she was hit by the car.
Paramedics took the woman to a hospital for treatment of an open fracture of one elbow and head injuries.
Pedestrians who suffer accidents from vehicles are much more likely to sustain catastrophic injuries than those who are protected inside a motor vehicle. Statistically, more than ten percent of traffic deaths involve pedestrians or bicyclists being hit by vehicles.
Additionally, more people sustain life-altering injuries, including head and brain injuries, while walking or riding a bike, sometimes injuries such as neurological damage may not be noticeable — even to treating doctors and hospital professionals. As a result, the appropriate tests are not conducted and brain injuries can be overlooked. If you are involved in a pedestrian accident, you should call me, a Riverside pedestrian accident lawyer.
