A Girl Falls Out Of A Moving Party Bus Window To Her Death
It was a day of celebration for a young Latino girl who just turned 15 years old. Her parents rented a party bus as a part of the festivities, and they had a few dozen friends and family along for the ride to the girl’s quinceanera. Sadly, an 11 year old girl wasn’t able to enjoy the time as she thought she would, she fell out of the party bus and was killed almost instantly.
Angie Hernandez was leaning against the emergency exit at the time a bus was going around the corner, the window came open and she fell out to her death. Robert King, spokesperson for the Portland, Oregon police department claims that the accident was a tragic occurrence that should have never happened. The emergency exits doors and windows are designed so that incidents like that do not happen. They are to be at all times locked and secured, and the fact that it so easily came open is a huge concern for the investigators.
This is not the only time an accident has happened like this on a party bus. Another victim died when he stuck his head out of the double decker window and was struck by a freeway overpass. Last July a woman was ejected from the party bus with her family after seeing a concert and was killed. Accidents like this should never occur, and yet they do and young people are having their lives taken away at far too young an age.
Accidents like this are often the result of the negligence of the bus company and failures to meet the federal safety standards or because of product malfunctions.
